Kits in the Classroom

Earlier this year,
Donna Gavitt,

bought 2 of our Countertop Kits for her grandson's classroom.
The teacher, Lisa Geisler Strouse, contacted us and shared the following story and photos.

"So, one of our school board members got me 2 mushroom kits from a local farm in Millville, didn't know what to do with it, but it started growing these Oyster mushrooms right away, kids were interested, but I had no idea how fast they would grow, after 1 week, I had to harvest 4 of the clumps before our snow day today as they were very ready, brought 2 home, fried them up with butter, garlic (from the garden) and oil and served over rice with my famous lemon chicken and roasted broccoli! Yum!"

Thanks for sharing, Lisa and Donna!

We would love to see more children learning about mushrooms. Order a kit today!

Lisa had a test version of a "Learning Packet" of basic mycology we've been developing. This is what she said about it:
"The learning packets were a bit elementary for my 11 and 12th graders, but my plant biology kids were very interested, and I referred to it during my 10th grade environmental science class on decomposers..."
Stay tuned for the availability of our "Learning Packet" as a digital download, printable .pdf from our webstore soon!
